Po maturze rok studiował w Krakowie. Po roku zdecydował się by wstąpić do Wyższego Seminarium Duchownego we Wrocławiu. Będąc diakonem na ostatnim roku wziął udział we Mszy w zajezdni przy ulicy Grabiszyńskiej. Na praktykę duszpasterską trafił do tzn. robotniczej parafii w Wałbrzychu.
