Urodził się w 1929 r. w Mokrzeszy, lekarz, uczony i nauczyciel akademicki. Emerytowany profesror Akademii Medycznej we Wrocławiu.
1954 - 1961 - lekarz w Katedrze Anatomii Opisowej Wydziału Lekarskiego, później na Oddziale Chirurgicznym Szpitala im. L. Rydygiera. W 1964 r. uzyskał tytuł doktora nauk medycznych, tytuł doktora habilitowanego uzyskał w 1972 r., 1981 - profesora nadzwyczajnego i profesora zwyczajnego (1989).
W 1978 - 1984 prorektor, 1987 - 1990 rektor Akademii Medycznej we Wrocławiu.
W 2002 r. nadano mu tytuł Doktora Honoris Causa Akademii Medycznej a w 2009 r. Akademii Medycznej we Wrocławiu
