History
Urodził się 15 kwietnia 1959 r. w Świętochłowicach, w 1947 r. przyjechał do Wrocławia na studia architektoniczne, które ukończył w 1952 r. W 1955 r. podjął obowiązki konserwatora zabytków Wrocławia. W 1960 r. uzyskał tytuł doktora nauk technicznych a w 1969 uzyskał habilitację a jesienią 1965 r. rozpoczął prace nad stworzeniem Muzeum Architektury we Wrocławiu, którego dyrektorem był aż do 1999 r.
W 1977 nadano mu tytuł profesora w dziedzinie nauk technicznych.
